The first skateboards were actually made of wooden boxes and this was where the actual history of skateboarding began. Over a decade later in 1963, skateboarding really began to take off as people saw how fun it was and how challenging it could be.

Skaters really turned into their own little club and had a certain laid-back, easy going style.
